Anna Mae Leggott Wade, age 90, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Elwood Care Center. She was born on June 28, 1924 at rural Clifton, Illinois to James Thomas and Susan Catherine (Elbert) Leggott.
She attended grade school at Leggottville Rural School in Illinois. In 1935, Anna Mae moved to Nebraska with her parents and eight brothers and sisters. She graduated from Elwood High School with the Class of 1942.
On June 23, 1942, she was united in marriage to Keith Wade in Las Vegas, Nevada. To this union four children were born, Shirley, Linda, Cynthia and Jeffery. They made their home in Culver City, CA before moving to Elwood in 1946. While in Elwood they owned and operated the Wade Dairy & Grocery. After selling the dairy, they farmed and later became partners of the Elwood Lumber Yard.
In 1974, Anna Mae started working for the First National Bank of Elwood, what is now known as the Pinnacle Bank and continued working there until her retirement almost 30 years later. She enjoyed working in her yard, decorating her home, spending time with her family. She was a kind, gentle, and loving person, with a smile for everyone, she loved her family, doted on her grandchildren and was a friend to all.
She was baptized at the First Christian Church of Elwood and was a long- time member and served as a Deacon.
She moved to Park Avenue in Lexington, Nebraska in February of 2013 and then to the Elwood Care Center in October 2014.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Keith Wade; her sisters Evelyn Puls and Eldora Synovec; her brothers, Sherle, James and Charles “Billy” Leggott; Brothers-in-law; Leonard Puls, Frank “Shorty” Synovec, Ed Saulsbury and Dale Dreher ; Son-in-law, Gary Humphrey.
She is survived by daughters; Shirley Wade-Hayhurst of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Linda Hock Humphrey of Parker, Colorado; Cynthia & husband Norman Evans of Elwood, Nebraska; Son, Jeffery and wife Linda Wade of Mason, Ohio; eight grandchildren; Greg Hayhurst, Shannon Hayhurst, Thad Hock, Melissa Franzen, Melinda Riedel, Christopher Evans, Olivia Wade and Charlie Wade; eight great grand-children; Sisters; Alice Jean Dreher and Doris Saulsbury; Brother; Donald Leggott and wife Alice; Sisters-in-law; Maxine Leggott and Beth Leggott.

Viewing and visitation will be Friday, February 20, 2015 from 4 PM till 8 PM at Elwood Funeral Home in Elwood, Nebraska. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 1 PM at the First Christian Church, in Elwood, Nebraska with Pastor Phyllis Dunlop, officiating. Interment will be at the Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Nebraska. Elwood Funeral Home, of Elwood, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
