Eleanore E. Schutz, age 88 of Elwood, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, April 24th, 2012 at the Elwood Care Center, in Elwood, Nebraska. She was born March 23, 1924 in Frontier County to Ernest and Louise (Stagemeyer) Schutz.
She was the oldest of eight children. She attended school at Salem Lutheran School in rural Gosper County, Nebraska. Following school, she helped in homes, cooking, and cleaning. She worked one year in the poultry plant at Oxford, Nebraska. Eleanore then worked as a telephone operator in Seward for 21 years and in Lincoln, for 7 years. She would retire in 1975 and move back to Elwood. She is a life long member of Salem Lutheran Church that merged in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood. She faithfully attended adult Sunday School and worship on Sunday mornings as long as she was able. She attended bible study and helped put the newsletter together for a number of years. She enjoyed Walter League for youth while she attended Salem Church. She enjoyed listening to music, especially religious, orchestra, and country western. She also enjoyed listening to the Talking Books, since she was unable to read in her later years. She loved being close to her brothers and sisters and all their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Ervin Schutz, brothers-in-law Virgil Wegener & Clarence Snurr, niece Lorie Vowers.

There will be no viewing or visitation. Funeral services will be Friday, April 27, 2012, at 11 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Elwood, Nebraska with Rev. Kenton Birtell, officiating. Interment will be at the Salem West Cemetery, at Elwood, Nebraska. Memorial may be given to Lutheran Women’s Mission League of Elwood or donor choice. Elwood Funeral Home of Elwood, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
