Elwood, Nebraska

Genevieve Lucille Carbaugh, age 91, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexington, Nebraska. She was born October 7, 1921 at O’Dell, Nebraska to William and Anna (Cacek) Prebyl.

She attended high school at O’Dell High School and graduated with the Class of 1939. She went on to college at the Nebraska College of Business, in Lincoln, Nebraska. On May 26, 1945, she married Jesse L. Carbaugh at the St. Paul Methodist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. They made there home in Lincoln until 1970. She would work for National Bank of Commerce for 10 years. They would move to Elwood, as Jesse would work for First National Bank of Elwood, Nebraska until his retirement in 1985. They remained in Elwood until 2006, with recent residences in Lincoln, Nebraska and Meadowlark Point in Cozad, Nebraska. Jesse passed away on March 31, 2008. Genevieve would then move to Elwood Care Center, in Elwood.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elwood. She enjoyed playing the piano, organ, and violin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse, and 1 brother.

She is survived her son: Gary & wife Renee Carbaugh of Lincoln, Nebraska

                      Daughter:  Sharon & husband Robbie Oelkers of Elwood, Nebraska

     4 Grandchildren: Andy & wife Suzanne Carbaugh of Sandy, Utah

                               Kellie & husband Greg Krzycki of Lincoln Nebraska

                               Kasey & husband Ron Rushton of Elwood, Nebraska

                               Cody & wife Sara Callahan of Kaneohe, Hawaii

 7 Great Grandchildren: Ayden, Maren, Gracie, Riley, Noah, Sophia, & Hudson

Viewing or visitation will be Friday, November 16, 2012 from 5 PM till 7 PM at Elwood Funeral Home, in Elwood, Nebraska. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 10 AM at the United Methodist Church, in Elwood, Nebraska with Pastor Mary Fuller, officiating. Interment will be at the Elwood Cemetery, at Elwood, Nebraska.  Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, in Elwood or the family. Elwood Funeral Home of Elwood, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
