Teressa Jane Marquardt, age 72, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska. She was born on May 3, 1941 at Sutherland, Nebraska to Robert D. & Hannah M. (Stumpf) Hampton.

Teressa received her early education in Sutherland, Nebraska and at the age to 10 moved with the family to the farm north of Hershey, Nebraska. She graduated with the class of 1959 from Hershey High School. She attended college at Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska and Huron, South Dakota and received her teaching certificate. She taught at Rosedale School, then moved to Elwood and taught at a rural District 26R.  She later began teaching in the Elwood Public Schools and continued to take classes and received her degree in education. She loved working with children, especially teaching them to read. She married George Marquardt on May 23, 1965 and resided in Elwood, Nebraska. She taught until her sons were born and opted to become a full time mother. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother in law: Kenneth Walz.

She is survived by her husband George Marquardt of Elwood, Nebraska

                                  Nieces: Alicia & husband Lucas Odean, Jennifer Schultz & husband Robert Mizuel

Viewing and visitation will be Monday, April 7, 2014 from 4 PM till 8 PM at Elwood Funeral Home, in Elwood, Nebraska and prior to the services at the church.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Elwood, Nebraska with Rev. Michael Wolff, officiating. Interment will be at Elwood Cemetery, at Elwood, Nebraska. Elwood Funeral Home of Elwood, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
