Elwood, Nebraska

Alice L. Wade, age 94, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Tri County Hospital in Lexington, Nebraska. She was born on January 23, 1916, to George & Mary Ellen (Kleffman) Fong, at the family farm which was in the Turkey Creek area south of Elwood, Nebraska.

She attended the Robbins country school thru the 8^th grade, and then graduated from Elwood High School. In 1934, she married Lowell Wade, of Elwood, Nebraska. To this union were born 3 children; Robert Royce (Bob), Marilyn Kay, and Lowell Dennis (Denny). She had 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter, completing 5 generations of Alice’s family.

Alice and Lowell lived their entire lives in the Elwood area, where they farmed and raised Hereford cattle. She was an active farm wife, helping Lowell all along the way. She was active in the Elwood Christian Church, and enjoyed many years of fellowship at the Elwood Senior Center, being there when it was first opened. She and Lowell loved to travel, and were avid Nebraska Football fans, attending many bowl games in their retirement years. She was a 4-H leader, and belonged to the neighborhood HOA Club. She lived the last 5 years at the Elwood Assisted Living, enjoying the company of all who lived there. She was a fun-loving person who enjoyed playing cards and just being with people. Her laughter will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lowell, son Lowell Dennis Wade, grandson Lowell Chad Wade, daughter-in-law Barb Wade, sisters Gurnie Frazell, Inez (Peggy) Lervig, Mabelle McGraw, Eunice McGraw, & brother Wesley Fong.

She is survived by Son: Bob Wade of Johnson Lake, Nebraska

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Elwood Christian Church, in Elwood, Nebraska with Pastor Linda Newman, officiating. Interment will be at Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Elwood Christian Church, Gosper County Senior Center, or the Donor’s choice.
