Elwood, Nebraska

 

Wesley Fox, age 88, of Elwood, Nebraska died on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska. He was born on April 30, 1922 on the family farm near Alta, Illinois to Norvin S. and Maymee I. (Case) Fox.

 

He graduated high school from Dunlap, Illinois. He went on to Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and received his Bachelors of Science degree in Agriculture Education in 1944. He would teach Ag. Education classes at Ankeny and Bondurant, Iowa. On December 21, 1947 he married Evelyn Louise Taylor at the Church of the Brethren at Clarence, Iowa. He was a partner in a Tire Shop in Marengo, Iowa for awhile and then would become a salesman for Purina Feed. In the mid 1950’s, he became a sales manager for Daffin Manufacturing of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was the regional manager for the Midwest. He would also own his own mobile feed business in Postville, Iowa. In May of 1971, they moved to Cozad, Nebraska and he would work as a salesman for Harvest Store. In 1978, they moved to Colby, Kansas where he managed a Valley Irrigation Dealership. After semi-retiring, they moved to Elwood and helped his son Lynn with his concrete business. He would move to the Elwood Care Center in August of 2009.

 

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, in Lexington, Nebraska. He was a deacon, elder, building coordinator, and Sunday school teacher at various Presbyterian churches that they attended. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Renault, Iowa, Farm House Fraternity at Iowa State University, Honorary Chapter Farmer with the FFA, and Who’s Who in Education. He enjoyed playing & excelling in football, wrestling, & golf while in high school.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Son Lynn Fox, Sister Norma Harlan, & brother-in-laws Cliff Sprouse & Ray Harlan

He is survived by his wife: Evelyn Fox of Elwood, Nebraska

                               Sons Ryan & wife Sally Fox of Montrose, Colorado

                                       Kenneth Fox of Elwood, Nebraska

                                       Wallace Fox of Elwood, Nebraska

                         Sister: Olive Sprouse of Sierra Vista, Arizona

There will be no viewing or visitation. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, in Lexington, Nebraska with Rev. Caroline Vickery, officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church, of Lexington, Nebraska or the donor’s choice.
