It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Dale Lyle Hubel, age 80, of Johnson Lake,
NE, on Monday, January 6, 2025. He has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born June
7, 1944, at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California to Carl and Maryhelen Hubel.
Dale was a man of unwavering faith, a strong work ethic, and a deep love for his family, friends and
community. Raised in Ewing, NE, he graduated from Neligh High School in 1962 and attended Grace Bible
College in Omaha, NE and Prairie Bible College in Alberta, Canada, where his faith was nurtured. Dale
proudly served in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged. Dale’s career as a craftsman,
welder, mechanic, and taxidermist spanned many years. He worked at Miller-Olson Manufacturing in
Neligh and later in Ord. While at Johnson Lake he was employed at New Holland, and John Deere, and also
helped others with boat repairs. Learning taxidermy from his father, he showcased his skills throughout his
life.
Dale was happiest when spending time with family and friends, radiating joy in every moment. Dale’s
daughters and grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. His passion for welding,
photography, hunting, fishing, water skiing, and baseball, especially Creighton baseball, brought him great
happiness throughout the years. Above all, his faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life, guiding
his actions and relationships. Dale’s legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of those who
knew him. He always put others first, offering help and encouragement wherever needed. His work was
done with purpose and excellence, as if serving the Lord Himself. His impact on his family and community
will continue to resonate for generations, as his life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and
compassion.
Dale leaves behind his daughters, Lesley (Pete) Luke, of Shellsburg, IA, and Nicolle (Pete) Upton of Grand
Island, NE. His beloved 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 7 step-great-
grandchildren. He also leaves behind younger sister Janet (Paul) Lundeen of Colorado Springs, CO, nieces;
Erin, Dina and nephews, Brian and Lambert and numerous cousins with whom he was close, as well as
family, friends, and loved ones who will miss him dearly. Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and
Maryhelen Hubel, twin Sister, Delores “Dee Dee” Williams, grandson Douglas Luke, step-great-grand-
daughter Anika Upton.
