Harvey Marvin Ficken, age 94, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in
Kearney, Nebraska. He was born on May 24, 1930, to John and Johanna (Noltensmeier) Ficken at their rural
home in Frontier County, Nebraska. He was the youngest of a family of five.
Harvey was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, south of Elwood, Nebraska and remained
an active member of that faith.
On November 12, 1967, he married Corrine Sass at Haigler, Nebraska. They made their home south of
Eustis, Nebraska where he farmed and raised cattle. He enjoyed the crops and always had a special love
for bottle feeding the rejected and orphaned calves.
Harvey especially enjoyed his lunch and coffee family in the surrounding towns. He was much loved by his
nieces and looked forward to the many birthday coffees with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Corrine, his brothers: Herman, Arthur, and Raymond
Ficken, his sister Alvena Wickenkamp, niece Linda Wickenkamp.
He is survived by his 5 nieces: Rhonda (Lynn) Randolph, Jeanine (Perry) Quigley, Carole (Robert) Dreher,
Joan (Larry) Burke, Janet Hein, and other relatives and friends.
Viewing and visitation will be Monday, July 8th, 2024, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church
in Elwood, Nebraska. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 2 PM at Our Redeemer Lutheran
Church in Elwood, Nebraska with Rev. Aaron Witt, officiating. Burial will follow at Salem West Cemetery,
