Marjorie May Schutz

Marjorie May Schutz, age 81, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016, at the Elwood Care Center. She was born on January 5, 1935, to William and Theckla (Jorges) Schultz, in Eustis, Nebraska. She was baptized in February of 1935 and confirmed on April 2, 1950 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eustis, Nebraska. She attended rural school south of Eustis until the 8th grade, then finished her education at Eustis High School. She attended Kearney State Teachers College, in Kearney, Nebraska. She then went on to teach at rural schools in Frontier County, Nebraska. She furthered her education by attending North Platte Community College and obtained her LPN license on November 28, 1983. In 1953, she married Norman Harm, to that union a son was born; Stan. Norman passed away in January of 1955. Marjorie married Gary Oelkers in 1957 and to this union 3 sons were born; Kim, Troy, & Robbie. Gary passed away in 1980. She married Merlyn Schutz in 1984 and he passed away in March of 2015. She was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Elwood Lion’s Club, and an active volunteer in the Elwood Community. She was born with a servant heart, being a caretaker of many through the years. She aha a variety of interest including reading, gardening, cooking, playing cards, crafts, dancing, and following the interests of her grandchildren. Marjorie is survived by her sons; Stanley (Gwen) Harm of Madrid, Nebraska, Kim (Rachel) Oelkers of Elwood, Nebraska, Troy (Cheryl) Oelkers of Cozad, Nebraska, Robbie (Sharon) Oelkers of Elwood, Nebraska. Grandchildren; Joshua (Molly) Harm, Jacob Harm, Heather (John) Vik, Sophia (Jon) Klein, Jared (April) Reichter, Connor Reichter, Brynn (Drew) Findlay, Andy (Amanda) Oelkers, Andrea (David) Hernandez, Kasey (Ron) Rushton, Cody (Sarah) Callahan; Great- Grandchildren: Hennley & Monroe Harm; Emma, Reagan, & Hannah Vik; Jayden & Karmella Klein; Avery & Elena Reichter; Kraven, Tylei, & Elexa Oelkers, Isabella & Ezekial Hernandez; Gracie & Riley Rushton; Sophia Callahan Also survived by Merlyn’s children; Keven (Kathi) Schutz of Amarillo, Texas, Kristine Miranda of Dallas, Texas, Lisa (Greg) Huerta of Kearney, Nebraska, and Jeffrey (Michelle) Schutz of Fulda, Minnesota Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Norman, Gary, & Merlyn. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 10 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood, Nebraska with Pastor Michael Wolff, officiating. Interment will be at the Salem Cemetery at Elwood, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to Elwood Care Center. Elwood Funeral Home of Elwood, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
