Marvin Lee Brand

Marvin Lee Brand, age 68, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away Monday, November 28, 2016, at his home. He was born November 19, 1948, in Elwood, Nebraska to Ward and LaVilla Brand. He grew up in Elwood and attended Elwood High School. He then enlisted into the U.S. Army and served his country in Vietnam. After the service he worked as a machinist at Monroe Company, Sperry-New Holland, and Becton-Dickenson Company from which he retired in 2011. He married Carolyn Sue Walston on October 25, 1980 at Hope Lutheran Church, Smithfield, Nebraska. They made their home in Smithfield, and moved to Elwood in 2010. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, watching westerns on television, going out to eat, and always enjoyed eating sweets. Together, Marvin and Sue enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Nevada, rides around Elwood, and trips to Colorado, New Mexico and 4 corners. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Sue Brand of Elwood, Nebraska Sons: Kenneth Walston (Pam) of Ridgecrest, California Jimmy Walston Jr. (Ruthy) of Elwood, Nebraska Daugther: Saundra VanCleave (Gary) of Hornick, Iowa Brother: Roger Brand (Joanne) of Gothenburg, Nebraska Sisters: Eileen Debban (Harold) of Kearney, Nebraska Betty Gaudreault of Cozad, Nebraska Best Friend: Raymond Hagan of Smithfield, Nebraska He also survived by 11 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grand children, and his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, and brother in law Condolences and personal reflections may be left at elwoodfuneralhome.com. There will be no viewing or visitation. Celebration of Life will be Monday, December 5, 2016 at 2 PM till 4 PM at Gosper County Senior Center in Elwood, Nebraska. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
