Matthew Charles Schack was born July 14, 1938, returned to the loving embrace of his Heavenly Father on February 21, 2025. Loving husband of Joyce Ann Schack and beloved father of five children Alan Schack – MI, Victoria Child-MD (Ricardo Cespedes), Jennifer Schack-HI (Philip Simmons), Pamela Vlahakis-MI (Steve Vlahakis), and Jonathan Schack-MI (Renu Schack). He was a cherished grandfather to Nora Child, Carter Child, Nathan Schack, Genevieve Schack and Penelope Simmons. Born in Allen Park, Michigan, growing up he lived in Florida, Alabama and Nebraska. He served in the Army in Louisiana. He eventually settled in Michigan received his degree from Wayne State University and raised his family in Farmington Hills. Matthew was an accomplished professional in IT and Computer Systems who thrived in his career with GM, EDS, and IBM. He was also an adjunct professor at Lawrence Technological University. An avid singer Matthew sang with the Detroit Lutheran Singers and his church choir. He was an elder at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and boating. He was proud to have a lake home in Sturgis, MI that was his sanctuary and retreat. His dog Stella was his constant companion. He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Eduard and Alice Schack (Allen Park, MI), brother Sonny Schack, sister Lois Scheel and his brother Allan Schack. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Elwood, Nebraska with Rev. Aaron Witt, officiating. Interment will follow at the Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Nebraska with military rites by the Elwood American Legion. Elwood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
