Patty J. Benjamin, age 94, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Ridgeway Senior Living in Lexington, Nebraska.
Patty was born on May 2, 1930, in Furnas County, Nebraska, to Bert & Doris (Resseguie) Webster. She was the oldest of seven children. She grew up in Oxford, Nebraska and graduated from Oxford High School. She married Wayne E. “Billy” Benjamin on December 23, 1951, and they lived in Edison, Nebraska. To the union three children were born: Linda, Curt, and Nancy. In 1963, they moved to Lexington, Nebraska where she was an Avon saleslady, a babysitter, and was a clerk at Sears Catalog Store. She would also work at the Lexington Sale Barn, Park Avenue Assisted Living, and Elwood Care Home. Wayne built a house on Johnson Lake where they lived for over 34 years until their move back into Lexington. While in her 80’s, she enjoyed working as a cashier at Walmart in Lexington.
She enjoyed being a girl scout leader, member of the Lexington Christian Church, and was a wonderful cook, which everyone loved her homemade noodles. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing and playing bingo. Patty loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She loved family get-togethers and playing her favorite card game – Shanghai! In her later years she loved spending time at the Grand Generation Center in Lexington. Wayne and Patty loved to travel to Texas for the winters and did that yearly for 10 years.
She is survived by her children: Linda & Steve Soundy of Minden, Nebraska, Curt Benjamin & Deb Jones of Lexington, Nebraska, Nancy & Neal Monter of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, sister-in-law Jeanie and husband Dean Eberle of Sumner, Nebraska, sister Sherrie Costello of Council Bluffs Iowa, grandchildren: Travis and Megan Soundy, Tucker and Michala Soundy, Taylor and Carrie Soundy, Garret and Shari Monter, Lindsay Monter, and great-grandchildren: Cooper and Lanie Soundy, Rylen, Gracyn and Kaden Soundy, and Lance and Jaxon Monter, Oliver Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne, grandson Seth Johnson, brothers & sisters Lyle Webster, Shirley (Bill) Dierker, Loren Webster, Joyce Lawler, Jerry Webster.
