Peggy J. Mak, 87, of Elwood, Nebraska went to be with her Lord Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the Elwood Care
Center. The family will receive friends between 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024 at Elwood Funeral Home,
302 Smith Ave.
Peggy Joyce McGraw was born October 9, 1936 in Rural Gosper County, Nebraska to Charles “Chick” and Eunice
(Fong) McGraw. She was a graduate of Lexington High School. On June 3, 1956 she married Larry G. Mak. They
made their home and raised their children in Elwood, Nebraska.
Peggy was a member of the First Christian Church in Elwood where she taught Sunday School and Youth Group
for many years. She was soft spoken but had an influence on those in her life. She loved her grandchildren,
spending time with them, and as they grew older watching them in sports. She enjoyed cross-stitch, knitting,
watching baseball, the Game Show Network, traveling with Larry to Lincoln attending the Nebraska State Fair
and Husker Football games; and riding the bus to Rosebud for a short get-away.
Through the years Peggy was employed by Beckman Construction, First National Bank of Elwood, and retired
from the Nebraska Department of Social Services.
Left to cherish her memory is her spouse Larry, children Donnie (Peggy) of Kearney, Dixie (Jon) of Kearney,
daughter-in-law Mindy of Elwood, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by two infant sons, son Dave, parents, sister Mary Ann, and niece Pam.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Brookestone Home Health & Hospice Holdrege, NE or Elwood
Care Home.
